Getting started with the seat upholstery
The first step in seat upholstery is to remove the seat base. Then we rip back the outer fabric in order to assess foam, seat base and stuffings.
We recover existing foam as it is in good condition with fire-retardant calico. It is absolutely essential that all upholstery meets the fire safety standards so we are very careful to make sure that all upholstery fabrics used are fire retardant.
Cut fabric to fit snugly at each corners and fix in place with tacks and staples
Cut wadding to shape and trim at corners, fix in place. Then we measure top fabric allowing for overlap underneath.
Cut fabric, taking into account pattern so that all seats look the same and fabric nap runs in the same direction.
Fix in place, trimming excess at corners for a neat and identical fit.
Cut calico for base of seat, turning under seam allowance to prevent fraying and fix neatly in place with tacks and staples.
Re-attach seat base.
